Swimming in April? Thank You, I believe I will!

Last Saturday it was 93 degrees here, so we went swimming, of course!  Luckily our apartment complex's pool stays open year 'round.  The water was still pretty cold, but it was nice to get a little wet, and we had fun trying out Chase's new swim suit.  We even got him some little sunglasses, but their "one size fits all" in the baby section didn't prove to be true for Chase.  His sunglasses do fit Buddy and I, though...which doesn't surprise me :)

The first thing we saw when we got to the pool was a frog practicing his breast stroke in the water.  He was probably enjoying having the pool all to himself before we got there and ruined things.  Then the poor guy had to endure Buddy's and Chase's attention for the next fifteen minutes.  I might have played with the frog, too, if it hadn't jumped on my leg and surprised me.  I make it a rule not to play with things that are sneaky and try to scare me.

 Don't worry, we made sure that Chase didn't hurt him.  I think he might have suffered more emotional trauma than physical pain.

I wish you could see Chase's swim trunks better.  I think they're so cute!  They are super long on him now, but it makes him look tougher.  More tough?  Spellcheck says tougher is a word, so I'm sticking with it.

 Buddy would let the frog get a head start, then he'd have Chase go after it.  You can barely see the frog in the picture below.  He's a couple feet in front of Chase.  Can you see him?

 Once we were finished with the frog, we splashed in the water for a bit.  I know this picture is blurry, but you can still see that Chase is enjoying it :)

 Our last attempt at getting Chase to wear the sunglasses.  They would look so cute on him if he would just hold still!  Alas, it'll probably be a few years before he'll actually let us put sunglasses on him.  Maybe this pair will fit him by then.

And look, that's my hand!  The only picture of me at the pool.  I know, I know, it's a nice hand.  You can say it.  You can tell I've been working out.  However, I'll never be as good as this lady.  One can only aspire to such greatness.

Holiday Back-track part 2

St. Patty's:

This St. Patrick's Day I wanted to make it more exciting by making some holiday-related food for lunch and dinner. After the day had already passed I realized I could have done breakfast, too! I just needed to buy some Lucky Charms! I wonder if they have increased sales of Lucky Charms around St. Patty's day, or am I the only one to think that idea is brilliant?

For lunch I bought some corned beef and salami to make sandwiches, and for dinner I stole my friend's idea and made green eggs and ham! (Thanks, Nikky!). Also I made some limeade (and made it greener...) Too bad the green scrambled eggs (with little green onions!) freaked Buddy out and he couldn't even eat them, scaredy-cat! I thought they were tasty :)

Not sure why he looks so intense here. Maybe still stressed out from the Board Exam he'd just finished taking.

Holiday back-track part 1

Valentine's:

 ok, this is the day before, but look how cute he is in his pink tie!

 Valentine's?  Oh, Chase is so there it's insane!

 All decked out in his holiday-colored attire.  Don't worry, he was wearing pants at some point during the day.

 He has a sneaking suspicion that we're going to have a cheesy, romantic dinner without him...

Oh, and he's right!  With heart-shaped plates, candles, and delicious food!  

This is the first time that I have ever planned a Valentine's Date!  I was pretty excited, and I went all out making a dinner and dessert, and even decorating.  If you know me very well, you know I'm usually too lazy to do such things, but it was actually pretty fun to plan!  And I kept it all a secret, because I love surprises! I made Bulgogi (see "side note" below) with a cucumber salad, and for dessert we had a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce (also in a heart shape).  I also made sure that we had sparkling grape juice-red and white.  So yummy :)

Side note: Our first Valentine's Day together was February 2007 about a week after we had officially started dating, after I had said: "Hey, Buddy, remember a few months ago when you said I should let you know if I ever changed my mind [about dating you]?  Well..."  and then we started dating.  Buddy planned our Valentine's date, and we ate out at Sam Hawk's--a Korean restaurant in Provo.  Buddy was excited to have me try their signature dish--Bulgogi.  It was really good, too!  Then we stopped by a grocery store to pick up a brownie mix (we got turtle brownies, mmmm.) and we went to his apartment to make the brownies and watch The Count of Monte Cristo, my favorite movie :)

Since then Valentine's has been:
'08: Shoot, I can't remember; it was in Provo, though, '09: Backyard Burger in Memphis.  Ooh, yeah.  It was a mutual decision, '10: Amerigo's Italian Restaraunt in Memphis.  Yummy, but Buddy insisted it was pronounced "Ahmair-EE-goes"with higher-pitched voice on the "EE."  He still thinks that.  Or maybe just says that to bug me.
